A native of Shelbyville,Tn., Whit is a 2000 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Physical Education. Now in his 8th year at the helm of the Blue Raider men's golf team, his team has made 5 consecutive appearances in the NCAA tournament and in 2008 finished in the top 15 nationally. Turnbow was three times (2008, 09, 11) named the Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year, and also in 2008 named the NCAA's Southeastern Regional Coach of the Year. Their 15th place finish at the NCAA National Golf Championship in 2008, still remains the highest team finish in a national championship, in the university's Division-1 era. Whit is married to the former Lori Kelley, of Murfreesboro, and they have 2 children, Reagan(6) and Connor(1). They are members of New Vision Baptist Church in Murfreesboro.
